Do you admire great entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs or company giants like Facebook, Google and Apple? Me too! They all have fascinating stories on how they became successful. Although these stories are great for motivational purpose, don’t rely too much on them. Why? Well, in this blog post I’m going to talk about the things Silicon Valley doesn’t tell you.
So why shouldn’t we rely too much on all those great success stories Silicon Valley brings to us? Simply because we are not them. We can become them, don’t ever say you can’t, but we are far from it right now. Remember; history is only ✏️ written because it already happened. You story begins right now. So start now. Focus on the now.
Start at level 1
I like to compare it with a video game 🕹. In every video game you’ll start in level 1. That’s because of 1 very important reason; you’ll have to learn to play the game. The first few levels are easy and are just to get you into the process of becoming the master of this game. When we play the game, we often want to skip to level 8 because we want bigger, better and more. But, the fact is, you really couldn’t do it without starting in the first level. In startups the same applies. You’ll have to start at level 1 and work you way up the ladder. Don’t think you can trick the game with hacks and take short-cuts. There are no shortcuts!
Everything starts with the first step
A marriage isn’t one without 2 persons who love each other. In order to getting married, you’ll first have to find a person to marry with. Therefore you’ll need to start dating. See… everything starts with a first step. So when you’re just starting up your business, don’t look for examples from all the great companies like Facebook in order to grow your business. That’s like reading a book 📘 about marriage, while you’ll need books about dating.
Start with level 1. Don’t worry about level 8. If you want a successful marriage the first thing to do is figuring out what kind of person you want to marriage. So read a book about how to get your business started, for example. Do what matters now, not what matters in a couple of months or years.
👉 Remember; nothing is an overnight success. Start now.
